I have installed SimpleBlog on gpEasy 3.6 RC and have created a post.

Strangely the 'post_count' property of the $blogData array is still 0.

Is that a bug or a misunderstanding of the 'post_count' property meaning?

Thanks.

Try an extra post. A lot of developers start counting at 0.

That does appear to be a bug. Let's see what I can find.

I just uploaded version 1.7.3 of Simple Blog with the fix. Thanks for reporting the problem!

Thanks a lot Josh for your prompt reply.

The fix solves the above mentioned problem but this 1.7.3 version raises a new problem that did not occur yesteday with the 1.7.2 version.

Oops, an error occurred while generating this page.

Have you changed the way the SimpleBlogCommon class is included in the SimpleBlog.php file?

FYI, I am testing SimpleBlogSEO on gpEasy 3.6.

The answer is yes.

1.7.2: require_once('SimpleBlogCommon.php');

1.7.3: gpPlugin::incl('SimpleBlogCommon.php', 'require_once');

EDIT:

I have finally found the origin of the problem and upgraded SimpleBlogSEO to make it work with the new way of including the SimpleBlogCommon.php file.

Sorry for the trouble with this. I'd be happy to change SimpleBlog back to use  "require_once('SimpleBlogCommon.php');".

It's no longer necessary, thanks.

I have uploaded v1.0.2 of SimpleBlogSEO that works fine w/ gpEasy 3.6 RC3.

There is something else I'd like to mention with SimpleBlog.

When editing a post (Edit All), the text editor width far exceeds the template width.

This makes editing the post quite difficult.

gpEasy 3.6 RC3 + SimpleBlog 1.7.3 (fresh install)

Hmm, I haven't been able to reproduce this. You don't have any width settings in the CKEditor admin page do you?

I don't.

As I said, it's a fresh install, I haven't changed anything to the default gpEasy settings.

The problem actually occurs on Chromium not in Firefox.

Chromium version 24.0.1312.56 Ubuntu 12.10 (24.0.1312.56-0ubuntu0.12.10.3)

It looks like an old ckeditor or chromium bug?

http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3893476/ckeditor-textarea-extending-out-past-box-in-chrome-and-safari

Not sure what to think about this either...

There is something else regarding ckeditor.

When editing a post or a page (inline editing), the 'Source' button is missing in the toolbar (it should not if I refer to the ckeditor configuration).

Great. And that thread has a workaround to fix the bug.

The missing Source button issue has been addressed many time. It has not been implemented for inline editing in CKEditor 4, but will be included in CKeditor 4.1 coming very soon. It's one of the main things preventing Josh from releasing 3.6.

Hence I am wondering why it hasn't been fixed already ;-)

This is good to know. Thanks a lot.

I wanted to ask again. What about images in the overview of the blog entries. For each entry, a picture show.

How can I do that?

We're at the mercy of the CKEditor developers there. We could probably make it work with a pre-release version of 4.1, but I'd rather have a stable version.

If your question is about inserting an image in your blog posts, the easiest way is probably to use the templating feature available in CK Editor:

http://docs.cksource.com/CKEditor_3.x/Users_Guide/Document/Templates

(I am not a CK Editor expert so others may have better ideas...)

But if you want to have:

  • A picture in each post ONLY in the blog main page and NOT in the posts pages
  • This picture AUTOMATICALLY added

You will have to develop your own plugin and... share it with the community ;-)

Hope this helps.
