That error has been reported occasionally, but I haven't been able to reproduce it to get enough information to fix it. Could you give me some more info:

  • Browser name and version. Also, do you get the same error in other browsers?
  • Your operating system. Looks like Windows 8?
  • Do you get the same error when trying to edit an installation on gpeasy.com? (You can get a fresh install/demo here)

Hi,

have the same issue with the new 4.3 version. Both in IE9 and Chrome. I'm using Windows 7.

Yeah, same here.

After I freshly installed 4.3 Final this morning I tried to edit the Home Page. I have OS X Lion, Browser  seems not the problem, I had it with Firefox, Safari, Iron (which is Chrome)

Some extra information:

I use XAMPP as a webserver and it's located at http://localhost/gpeasy/ and when I click on Settings -> Site Status I'm redirected to http://localhost/xampp/

This also happens clicking on Plugins -> Manage and Download Plugins, Appearance -> Manage Layouts etc , etc...

EDIT:  The DEMO gpEasy website works fine. So I'm starting to think it's a XAMPP (webserver) issue.

Bjorn

Hi,

I try this on IE 11, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Maxton, same problem.

Partial solution is that you move your home page in menu on 2nd place and page is available for editing, but any other page which is on first place have problem. So until someone fix this, that is only way to edit first page, no matter what is name of first page.

I mention that install was clear, on brand new server, first time install

The DEMO gpEasy website works fine. So I'm starting to think it's a XAMPP (webserver) issue.

Thanks for checking on that. Knowing whether it's a server-side or client-side issue is only the first step, but it helps out tremendously!

And it sounds like the problem is mostly happening on Windows installations. Does it improve if the web.config file is removed from the root folder of the gpEasy installation?

Hi Josh,

Deleting the web.config didn't fix the problem.

Now  even logging in doesn't work. Clicking on http://localhost/gpeasy/Admin?file=Home redirects to me to http://localhost/xampp/  :-(

Hmm. Try http://localhost/gpeasy/index.php/Admin

If that works, you can get your web.config file back by going to the "Permalinks" admin page (found under the "Settings" heading in the admin toolbar). Select "Hide /index.php" and the system will generate a new web.config file.

Nope. Error 404 Object not found...

It seems it's redirecting to the root directory. From http://localhost/gpeasy/index.php/Admin to -> http://localhost/Admin_Menu

Well, not sure how I got off track on this one. If you're using XAMPP, then the web.config file isn't going to do a single thing. Can you post the contents of your .htaccess file so I can take a look at it?

For anyone getting the "There was an error processing the last request..." error, I've made some changes to two files that may fix the problem. They are:

To test these updated files, copy them to the appropriate location in your gpEasy installation (the /include/tool folder). Since the changes in these files address possible proxy caching issues, please create a new page in your gpEasy installation to test with.

Note: These files should only be used with gpEasy 4.3

This is the content of htaccess file:

AddType application/x-javascript .js
AddType text/css .css
AddType text/xml .xml

AcceptPathInfo On

# BEGIN gpEasy
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase "/gpeasy/"

    # Don't rewrite multiple times
    RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} gp_rewrite
    RewriteRule .* - [L]

    # Redirect away from requests with index.php
    RewriteRule index\.php(.*) $1 [R=302,L]

    # Add gp_rewrite to root requests
    RewriteRule ^$ /index.php?gp_rewrite [L]

    # Don't rewrite for static files
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f [OR]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -d [OR]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} \.(js|css|jpe?g|jpe|gif|png|ico)$ [NC]
    RewriteRule .* - [L]

    # Send all other requests to index.php
    # Append the gp_rewrite argument to tell gpEasy not to use index.php and to prevent multiple rewrites
    RewriteRule /?(.*) "/index.php?gp_rewrite=$1" [qsa,L]

</IfModule>
# END gpEasy

Hi Josh,

Was just about to test those two files you posted, however they are both linking to the same ajax.php file.

If you could upload the output.php file again and I'll test it in xampp.

4.3 is great by the way. Lots of useful improvements / refinements.

Thanks,
Dave.

Just fixed the link for the gpOutput file. Thanks Dave

Now to look closer at Bjorn's .htaccess file

Bjorn, I think I've found it. Looks like we problem with how the .htaccess file is being generated. Will you try this content in your .htaccess file:

AddType application/x-javascript .js
AddType text/css .css
AddType text/xml .xml

AcceptPathInfo On

# BEGIN gpEasy
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase "/gpeasy/"

    # Don't rewrite multiple times
    RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} gp_rewrite
    RewriteRule .* - [L]

    # Redirect away from requests with index.php
    RewriteRule index\.php(.*) $1 [R=302,L]

    # Add gp_rewrite to root requests
    RewriteRule ^$ /index.php?gp_rewrite [L]

    # Don't rewrite for static files
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f [OR]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -d [OR]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} \.(js|css|jpe?g|jpe|gif|png|ico)$ [NC]
    RewriteRule .* - [L]

    # Send all other requests to index.php
    # Append the gp_rewrite argument to tell gpEasy not to use index.php and to prevent multiple rewrites
    RewriteRule /?(.*) "/gpeasy/index.php?gp_rewrite=$1" [qsa,L]

</IfModule>
# END gpEasy

Note, this htaccess file is somewhat specific to Bjorn's installation. If anyone else would like to test out the changes reflected in this htaccess file, I would recommend downloading an updated /include/admin/admin_permalinks.php file. I would recommend starting fresh with an uninstalled copy of gpEasy 4.3 and copying the new admin_permalinks.php to your /include/admin folder, then running the gpEasy installer.

Edit: More recent admin_permalinks.php file

You're the best!  It works like a charm now!

Thank you very much!

Hello,

Total newbie here to all of this.  I keep getting the same error message as well.  Using Mac osx 10.6.8 and Safari 5.1.10, though I can use Firefox if that would be better.  My webhost had to install gpeasy for me so are the instructions above some type of glitch fix I need to request them to reinstall with or is there something on my end I can do to get past this?  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Mindy:)

Hi Mindy,

You have a couple of options:

If you're able to get access to your .htaccess file, we can get it fixed without their help. Just post the contents of your .htaccess file here and I'll make the change.

Otherwise, you could have your host re-install after copying the corrected admin_permalinks.php file to your server.

For anyone wondering, the only change I'm making to the htaccess file is on the line that immediately follows " # Append the gp_rewrite argument...". The problem is limited to installations on sub-directories (something like http://example.com/sub-directory). Instead of

RewriteRule /?(.*) "/index.php?gp_rewrite=$1" [qsa,L]

The line should read

RewriteRule /?(.*) "/sub-directory/index.php?gp_rewrite=$1" [qsa,L]

Where "sub-directory" is updated to reflect your installation
