Latest version 4.3 downloadable from principal Gpeasy button located on main page (wich is the same in google code) is not working. After correct installation it redirects to blank page. Dunno why, but it seems  it's a problem of the latest zip uploaded on 4 November ONLY, because on Nov-3 it was working.

Tested several times.

Which version were you using on Nov 3?

6 years ago#6760

Downloaded v4.0 automatically, directly from main DL button and worked like a charm.

Then updated it via admin panel. Keeps working fine but Bootstrap themes didn't work (I'm new to BS, maybe it's my fault), so I decided to look for 4.3Beta1 to install the new version directly via FTP after erasing the old one. Deleted all 4.0 folders.Navigated to googlecode to download 4.3 version. Today in the morning I installed it 4 different times without exit, in the same server previous versions are working.

After suceed message, keeps going to blank. Tested in FF and Chrome. Pure blank. No html output.

I'm pretty sure it's a sub-version problem, because googlecode shows the hour when the file was uploaded (19 hours ago).

Thanks.

(I have been using gpeasy since "beta0.9"  and I still think it's great)

Sorry, I'm a little confused about which version was the last one that worked for you?

I guess regardless of which version worked, I'd also be interested in seeing any error messages. You should be able to get those to display by turning debugging on: gpeasy.com/Docs/Debugging

Hello Josh. Best before, sorry for not using GitHub. I'm not an expert on this.

With the latest v4.3 uploaded to Google code, after a successful install, site dissapears. There is no way to access admin, debugging is not working, neither safemode. Nothing. Simply goes blank when entering site.

I'm quite sure some files inside  "gpeasy4.3.zip" available in google-code are corrupted.

A fresh 4.0 installation worked out fine just yesterday but without Bootstrap themes. Thats the reason why I searched for 4.3b1 and later jumped to 4.3.

If someone could test this ZIP file in a fresh install it would be great. I tested it in 2 different hostings without sucess :(

Thanks a lot and congrats for your great work.

What php version are you using?

6 years ago#6777

php 5.3 fresh install. It is working with 4.0.

Installing 4.3 succeed, all green. The problem is that after install, redirecting to site goes blank. No gpeasy accesible.

Can you try to install Google-code's latest version? It was uploaded only 40 hours ago. I think the problem is there.

As I said the server is a fresh virtual server :(

EDIT:  There I want to use gpeasy instead of Joomla :)

I installed it and everything loaded fine on my system, but I came across another problem that could be related to what you're seeing.

I've made a change to the /include/admin/admin_permalinks.php file. Will you do another fresh install of gpEasy 4.3 to test this out. Before you run the installer though, copy this admin_permalinks.php file to the /include/admin/ folder of your new installation.

Very good move ;)

Would love to know the reasons why you choose to replace Joomla by gpEasy.

I did that exact move myself, I was getting bored of Joomla useless complexity.

In fact i'm using gpeasy since very very first versions (1.x) because is the only and best NO-SQL CMS out there. A very good piece of software for starters. I have no problems with SQL, but usually I get exasperated with it. Joomla is too TOOOOOOO big. If something breaks, it is almost impossible to find where it was broken. I like Gpeasy  because it is simply, fast and reliable. Easy to deploy and easy to manage for a personal site.

Will try tomorrow with new permalinks file. Surely it will work!!! :)

Will report feedback. Thanks a lot.

Update. Looks like there was another problem with the .htaccess file generated by admin_permalinks.php. Here's the latest admin_permalinks.php file

I agree.

I would also add that from a development point of view, gpEasy makes things much easier.

The Joomla framework and mvc model are probably very exciting for a 'computer science'-oriented guy but just makes development cycles longer due to the over-complexity.

Having said that, Joomla have some extra features that gpEasy does not have yet such as a built-in frontend user management system and template overriding capabilities among others. And of course, the number of extensions (addons) listed on the JED is just impressive.

Have just installed it with the new permalinks file. Same. Successful install, all OK and redirection to page appears, but site is blank.

Just downloaded 4.3b1 to test it out in the same server (again) and everything is working ok.

Downloaded 4.3RC3 from GitHub and WORKS fine too. Sadly 4.3 is not working, but betas keep working.

EDIT: the problem is probably and quite sure with certain Bootstrap... files ¿?. (dunnno wtf BS is making with my lovely CSS files) and my server

I realize that several themes brings same problem (Blank page) to my installs. For example Cerulean in all variants breaks the site... but listen to this: Bootswatch United Starter is working where all other variants (jumbotron, narrow...) just goes to blank page . I'm talking of 4.3RC3. Default BS Flatly Sticky Footer works fine, but Flatly Starter and Flatly Jumbotron goes blank. Exactly same problem as 4.3 final when recently installed.

Surely default theme for 4.3 (and 4.3.1)  is where the problem is located in my server. Does the server needs something special for BS to work properly? The host is a standard virtual server mounted with parallels where joomla, magento, opencart, sugarCRM and many other major packets are installed from control panel (tested, working).

I will stay with theme United Starter, and use it to get experience with this Bootstrap "trap" for old CSS users Lol

If i manage my way to a cool new theme, i will upload it to the site for everyone to enjoy.

Thank you both!!! cheers

Dang. Can you do a couple of things:

  • Paste the contents of your .htaccess file from the 4.3 install here
  • I've put together a gpEasy package with a couple of changes. Will you try installing this one?
  • Are you installing on a hosting providers servers? If so, could you tell me which provider so that I can create an account and do some testing?

Thats why I'm sure the problem is in the zip, not in the version itself :(

There's certainly a conflict, but other users, including myself, have successfully installed gpEasy from that zip.

Hi Josh.

I was editing the message just above your last message (thanks, will test it out).

I have located the problem. The failure is in this Bootstrap thing. Probaly default theme in 4.3 file is flatly (whatsoever) and thats the reason my hosting is givin' me a BLANK page. Only certain variants of certain "new BS" themes works.

It's a mistery for me WHY. I dont know anything about BS and these LESS files and compiler.. I will take a look around, testing it.

Thats WHY I LIKE GPEASY. In Joomla it will be IMPOSSIBLE to mess around with.

Thanks for your attention. I will stay with the version wich is working while I test it in other install.

Cheers!

That's what I was guessing. The modified zip I posted has the default theme changed so that bootstrap isn't used.  I've tested the bootstrap/less on multiple systems (php 5.2-5.4) but clearly there are some more issues.

If you are working on a hosting provider's servers, I'd love to get a similar account so I can debug it.

How can I manage to get that for you?

Are you working with a hosting provider? If so, just post or send me a link to the service.

If you're working from your own computer, I'd be interested in knowing how it's set up (windows/linux, php version, php.ini). Again, either posted here or emailed.
