I would like to make the admin menu disappear for users without any admin or edit rights (like outdated frontend user plugin). Unfortunately I could not find the right spot in the code to get rid of the very top fixed line spacer that usually contains version control when logged in.

Could anybody give a hint where to find the correct spot? Thanks.

Sorry for the late response, hopfully still helpful.

It's in /include/css/admin_toolbar.scss on line 25

You can overrule it e.g. using

html, .gp-fixed-adjust { margin-top:0!important; }

anywhere in your css

That seems to work perfectly. Thank you very much!
