Topic: gpEasy CMS / FluxBB - Integration Plugin

Hi,

Just wondering if you want your plugin tested like you were asking, or did I put you off with that hiding index.php bit? Sorry if that's the case. :)

I can test it either way for you as I'd love to see how you implemented yours.

Thanks,
D.

Topic: gpEasy CMS / FluxBB - Integration Plugin

Hi,

This sounds great. I have a few installations of FluxBB on the go, however any with Typesetter, I couldn't get it working using friendly URLs (i.e. no 'index.php' in the url). Does your plugin cover this?

I have a new Typesetter site with a FluxBB install ready to test straight away if you want me to?

Thanks,
Dave.

Topic: Dates missing in Simple Blog

Hi,

I've had this same issue previously and only had to debug it again recently. I don't know what causes the problem, but I was guessing it's a bug (maybe not quite a bug) that the date format on the hosting server or within Typesetter doesn't match the format of the Simple Blog plugin - so it may work for some where month comes before day in date format!!!!

To fix, enter a different date format in the back-end of Simple Blog configuration page in 'Date Format' field. Try: %b %Y as a test and this will display Month Year. You'll need to save configuration and may need to also click 'Regenerate Gadget' down the bottom of that config page too.

Let us know if that fixes it for you.

Topic: Disabled Vet Needs Help (if possible)
Hi Juergen,

Can I add to your suggestions to quietstorm re forums.

I've been using Typesetter for years - Josh's wonderful creation, and it covers so much of what people require their websites to do. I think there should be a least one option for every type of component a website might need (like forum, newsletter, cart, etc), so I just wanted to inform other Typesetter users (because there must be many other users out there on the sidelines like me, keeping an eye on Typesetter all the time) that there is another free, open source, forum software that can be incorporated into Typesetter. You may all already know about it - https://fluxbb.org - also there used to be a plugin in the 'pluggins' section of this site that allowed it to be installed seamlessly, but it was removed (might have been compromised previously). It is a database driven forum, but if you need to add a forum, you'll probably be happy to use a database version - are there even any flatfile forums out there?

However, the plugin for integrating FluxBB is out there on the net. It was created by another user (Dominion IT). The plugin works really well with latest version of FluxBB and FluxBB is fully customisable, with mobile-responsive themes, plus it has ever feature I could imagine. So I don't know if it's ok to post a link to this external site to the plugin, or if this ok to do Johannes, if you're listening? :)

The only thing that I couldn't get going was using this plugin using pretty URLs (hiding  'index.php'), so could anyone help me with that, if you've already done it, or would know how to do it.

Great to see another version of Typesetter released, thanks J├╝rgen - can't wait to download and try it out (anywhere that there a full list of changes?) It's such a brilliant CMS. I've suggested before that even a donation link should be set up if it helped development, because I wouldn't hesitate to give something back.

Thanks,
Dave.

Topic: A little help with you plugin if possible

Hi Johannes,

We've never chatted before but I'm hoping you can give me a little help/pointers with one of you plugins, if you're still involved in this kind of area.

It's your 'Forum Integrator'. I have it working fully (with latest fluxbb 1.5.10) using your brilliant plugin, so thank you so much for that. It took me a bit of head-scratching to work out that it has to be used with 'Permalinks' turned off so that 'index.php' is used in the URL path.

So there's my question. What do I need to tweak to use friendly URLs with your plugin ('Permalinks' on, hiding index.php) which I need to use for other requirements with the site?

I don't expect you to supply any major support, but even just a few pointers / thoughts as to what likely needs to be done. I presume it's change some paths in the forum_integrator.php file, but the few changes I tried so far haven't worked. (Would consider myself medium level knowledge of php).

Anything you can throw back to me would be greatly appreciated if you have a spare moment.

Many thanks,

Dave.

Topic: Some suggestions for new release

Hi,

Me again!

Actually, the big one I forgot to mention - as of April 21st with Google now pushing us all to have mobile-friendly websites, can some tweaks be made to make gpEasy sites score as high as possible on Google's analysis tool: https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/

Obviously a lot is down to how the template is constructed and what size / type of images are inserted into site, etc, but there are other changes that could be there from point of initial install of gpEasy.

As a simple example, one thing that could be added to default .htaccess file - leverage browser caching for images, css, js, etc.

Or other things that I got as part of Google's recommendations: Remove render-blocking JavaScript, Optimize CSS Delivery, Minify CSS, Minify HTML, etc...

Thanks again,

Dave.

Topic: Some suggestions for new release

Hi Josh,

Great to see you back working on this amazing bit of software. Thanks.

Is this the correct place to suggest minor improvements?

Anyway, here are a few if you think any are useful:

  • If 'jQuery & jQuery UI' are selected in 'Configuration' in the admin back-end, then it is automatically loaded without having to add some 'loadComopnent' line into the template to get it running.
  • Similarly, add another selection option in 'Configuration' in the admin back-end, to select/load Bootstrap - tick box or dropdown
  • is there a method for outputting JSON from a plugin?

Are they worthy??

Thanks,

Dave.

Topic: Is gpEasy died?

Hi All,

I was waiting to see if Josh replied first, but I might as well join in.

I imagine most people who have used this CMS like myself think it's fantastic - like really, really good. It doesn'y work for all types of sites, but for the types of sites it does work for, I don't think there is anything better out there.

I too have made money from gpeasy so I think giving something back would be more that fair and hope that it can continue to be developed. I've often thought about suggesting a donation feature but I didn't want to say it in case people got upset.

I'm on-board for any charging. How about free for personal use and small charge for commercial use? That could add up to something sizeable per year.

It's an amazing piece of kit you've created Josh - and thank you for everything so far. Let us know where you're at.

Topic: problem with editing home page on gpeasy 4.3

Hi Josh,

Was just about to test those two files you posted, however they are both linking to the same ajax.php file.

If you could upload the output.php file again and I'll test it in xampp.

4.3 is great by the way. Lots of useful improvements / refinements.

Thanks,
Dave.
