[Edt] In topic should be "from inside" only
I try to cope with my own theme. In earlier version of GP I just can upload unzipped theme (downloaded for example from GPEasy site), and GP automatically displays them, and I can choose it.
Now. despite of theme - I can only add theme via download through web (Apperance->manage layouts), there is no option to show where to seek a new, uploaded one.
As I mentioned above, previously, I just added unpacked theme into Themes folder via FTP, and it appears within themes. Now it look not working...
I have downloaded a skeleton theme and uploaded it (for my testing purposes), but I cant see it. The same is with other, manually uploaded themes :(
What can be wrong? What I'm doing wrong?
To make GP4 working on my hosting I have to change .htaccess file. The line SetEnv PHP_VER 5_3 has been necessary. Without this line, I have received blank, white page. While turning up debugging error:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STATIC, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or '}' in /homez.108/[...cut...]/www/gpe/include/common.php on line 809" appears.
Can anyone help how to add additional theme not downloading through GP?

There are two reasons why a theme wouldn't be showing up:
1. Make sure the template.php file is in the right spot. A theme should be oriented/uploaded such that the template.php file can be found by gpEasy. Here's an example of what the file structure should look like:
/ <path_to_gpeasy> /themes/ <uploaded_theme> /template.php
2. If the file structure is correct, then check the permissions of the uploaded files. The <uploaded_theme> folder and all of the files within it need to be readable by the server.

Hmm, which version of php are you using?
I have made a little experiment. I have downloaded GP 3.6 version from SF, uploaded it and tried to install GP and add theme.
Results are as follows:
According your directions I have checked it out. All looks to be OK. Skeleton theme has been uploaded to both versions from the same local folder. Permisions in both versions on certain template folder are the same.
In 3.6 IS visible (test folder on screendump), in GP4 (GP4 folder) IS NOT.
In both cases, to install I have to modify .htaaccess..I have hosting in OVH, reply for "<?php phpinfo() ?>" is "PHP Version 4.4.9", and this is default. GP requirements are 5.2+, so .htaccess has to be modified.
Maybe it will be useful tip for the others to know that blank white page while trying to install (and confusing error message) can be easily resolved? (but this for "Install" thread, not themes). Or maybe it will be the simplest to write a few lines of code while running installation to check php version - if higher than 5.2 - install, if not - displaying info about adding this one line to .htaccess?
I will try to re-download and reinstall GP4 because of themes problem. I have no idea why it does not work :(
