I'd like to switch between 2 or 3 Themes on various pages of the same site .

I read

http://www.gpeasy.com/Forum?show=t116  and

http://gpeasy.com/Forum?show=t100

How can i install a simpler solution - other CMS'es like lightneasy have that as a choice

when adding a new site - perhaps the next version of gpeasy : This would improve it as a choice

Its already possible, and easy to do.

  1. Go to 'Appearance -> manage layouts'
  2. Choose Available themes
  3. Preview one of the themes you want to use
  4. Click the Green button 'Use this theme in a new layout.'
  5. Give it a sensible name.
  6. Repeat step 4 & 5 for each theme you want to use.
  7. Then go to 'content -> page manager'
  8. Now you can select a page, click on the theme property and choose one of the themes you configured in step 5.

A proposal for a future version of gpeasy is therefore 1. to be able to choose a theme and to save it parallel with another name. 2. To make it possible to edit a template and a css online If one chooses a template then are menus are the same as before - renaming a menu to menu1 or similar enables to have different skins and different menus on various pages

1. is already possible

2. I dont know, you could do it already via ftp, but you would have to duplicate the theme first, but then you have the flexibility to have different menus as wel.

I found a possibilty to duplicate a layout with the copy - option, but the menus are still the same. I cant find the new copy-layouts with ftp. They must be somewhere.... If the copy-function would make a new folder with the new name then it would be easier to handle. With Wolf-Cms this is possible but that cms has other disadvantages. After i have made a copy with a new name it is not possible to delete it... When i make a new ftp-directory with the same above custom-name and change a picture, make a copy - layout with the name of that directory - and create a page with the custom - layout then it has no effect... The picture is the old picture. It does not help to change the name in the Addon.ini either.

You are probably confusing "layout" with "theme". I know I get lost sometimes. There are 3 levels of tempting within gpEasy.

  • Theme: This is the folder that is uploaded to your server
  • Color: Although initially set up for color variations on a theme, it can be used for completely different looks.
  • Layout: is a rearrangement of the blocks within a theme/color. Those settings are stored with your website data (I think it's in data/_site/pages.php but not 100% sure)

I think that there is a small bug in gpeasy : If i choose 'edit this Layout' and make in layout-options a copy of the layout then i have a new entry like boot-copy1 (or another name). If i choose 'edit this layout' in the copied layout it is not possible to delete the layout. It is just an alias. The is no change in the ftp-directory. There is no new folder or subfolder in an original themefolder. What i wanted is to make a copy of a theme under a new name and with a new folder under themes. The system should then automatically change values in the addon.ini like name and id. This is for pages which have their own sidebar and topbar. I wanted the possibility to edit css,template(menu->menu1 etc) and the addon.ini because it is a CMS (of course i can change the 3 with notepad++ and the rest with ftp. That what Wolf-Cms has implemented.

The copy is made under _data. You could just copy the theme yourself and edit the folder name and addon.ini (or delete it, you dont need it really)

There is but another point which could be improved :

If i create an new menu then i cannot create a new page and add the new menu to that page.

For example i am in a menu and want to branch to a page mit a new menu menu2.  (not a Theme)

There is no point to choose between the existing menus - or am i blind ?

What i found is : Current page - editable areas -> all links(or Top Level links) : then i have choices..   but that is not intuitive!
