i am trying version 1.7.4 after extracting it online from a zip file. it is in a subfolder. i can't login. the error i get isWarning (2) fopen(/home/shivsai/public_html/gpeasy17/data/_site/session_ids.php) [function.fopen]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in: /home/shivsai/public_html/gpeasy17/include/common.php on line: 1365
It sounds like maybe you have some broken files or didn't get everything uploaded.
Delete files, re-upload and try again. It sounds like your permissions are ok. It should install without a problem.
One thing to always do with zip files is test them. Use 7-zip if you don't have a zip utility that can test the file. Sometimes they get corrupted during transfers.
I haven't seen a problem with installing 1.7a4 in sub-folders.
I have the same login issues when transferring from my local to my hosted server... Everytime. Have tried compressing .zip, .7z, and various .tar files... nothing works
Maybe am doing something wrong but find it difficult to believe that three different zip programmes and five different zip formats all give me a working site - apart from the ability to log in...
Any help would be much appreciated. BTW - only have these problems with 1.7ax
you might want to fill out a bug report - see the contact page here.
Sorry, I can only go by what I experience with a version. I sync my xampp install to my server and no problems with login information and I'm using 1.7a4. I just uploaded a gpEasy tutorial for xampp, gpEasy install in xampp, and sync to server with WinSCP. However, I can't guarantee that your server will work with it. My server works fine.
Also, login problems can be due to your browser's settings. Check with a different browser, make sure cookies are enabled, etc.
Recently Chrome went off on me and I could login but once I clicked on any page I was instantly logged out. I fired up Firefox and I had no problems. Could not find the cause in Chrome. Luckily I backed up Chrome not long before that. Anyways, make sure you check with more than one browser and it's always good to check with a clean install browser--get one of the portableapps.com versions so you will always have a clean install browser to check against.
Other than that I got nothing. Doesn't make sense why everything would work but the login. Do the checks and if still not resolved file a bug report. Good luck.
