One possibility is to modify the Roboto-Plugin so that it appends its font at the end of the list :

The letter R(oboto) is anyway for the  end .

Found it. Roboto2014 pugin's font_name config will overrule the gwf plugin's one.

The issue can only be solved by wrapping the gwf plugin inside a Typesetter plugin.

If it's crucial for you, I can do it - it's not much effort .

If it is not much effort... Until then i use

@import url('http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Roboto2:bold,regular,italic,thin,light,bolditalic,black,medium');

instead of the roboto sans-plugin, so that i do not loose existing formatting.

I think the google  fonts plugin is interesting for all. It is just to find the correct font- name like  'roboto2 bold' (one never knows the correct name)

After studying the   roboto-sans-plugin i think it  is also quite easy to add  other poular fonts to the roboto sans-plugin so that these fonts are loaded from the local directory and can be deleivered with compression.  I am working at that and hope to finish it within a few days(fonts2018.zip).

I'm reluctant to contact you again, but I can not cope with several fonts in the menu , which sometimes work but  then not with the wanted font. The fonts are marked unique. I made a small version of a 4-fonts-plugin, but ?   it is for  a time at :   net.square7.ch/Gfonts2018-4.7z

Can you give me a hint why it does not function. Roboto sans 2014 within functions always...

Unfortunately, for one thing Google Fonts cannot be tricked to serve font weights as subfamilies (e.g. 'Abhaya Libre ExtraBold') and, on the other hand, CKEditor's Font dropdown doesn't allow to define weights. An unfortunate combination. That's why I coded the Roboto 2014 css the way it is  -  redundant overlapping weight families.

I fear that's only possible with self-hosted font files. But I'll try to find an abstraction/automation to use imported multi-weight Google Fonts.

Custom webfont kits (fontsquirrel) for every google font is not an option :-)

One point that i meanwhile found out is that the 'opensans' - Font  functions. The fonts in the zip are serif and handwriting. Rototo2014 is open sans too.

Direct download is for example  https://fonts.gstatic.com/s/abhayalibre/v3/e3t5euGtX-Co5MNzeAOqinEYj2rCrdZJ.woff2

At  https://google-webfonts-helper.herokuapp.com/fonts/abhaya-libre?subsets=latin

one can make a hook into all fields and so get  a long css(and not only regular-font).

When importing the stylesheet directly from Google Fonts, they will determine the browser and only serve the best-suited format.
With custom css, we need to load at least woff and woff2, (see caniuse)

Did you mean 'sans-serif'? OpenSans is a whole different font.

The problem is, without an API key, we won't get this url to be processed by PHP.

/edit: I fear there is no way around the API key. But, hey, reCaptcha needs one, Google Maps needs one... so it's probably the best solution.

I was talking about

https://google-webfonts-helper.herokuapp.com/fonts/open-sans?subsets=latin   :::

sans-serif , 10 styles 300, 300italic, regular, italic, 600, 600italic, 700, 700italic, 800, 800italic

7 charsets latin, cyrillic, cyrillic-ext, greek, latin-ext, vietnamese, greek-ext

- but it functions only partially after i testet deeper, sometimes also without reaction.

It does not help to expand   Abhaya libre : https://google-webfonts-helper.herokuapp.com/fonts/abhaya-libre?subsets=latin

with serif like  ::: @font-face { font-family: 'Abhaya Libre', serif;

But there must be a way to make these google-fonts  function because normal css-fontface goes. Direct load from google is only the last choice.(Where does Your Robot - Font come from)

A way for wordpress is in

https://github.com/adrian3/wp-google-fonts/blob/master/google-fonts.php (just for a good php-programmer - and so not for me)

Where does Your Robot - Font come from

Thats a custom webfont kit generated @ fontsquirrel.com, from the desktop fonts.

Yes, that's of course possible. It's only cumbersome to hack the css in order to make all weights accessible via CKE's Font dropdown.

I made quite a lot of such kits, including Open Sans (get it from here)

We cannot use the original css. Not if the font family consists of more than regular / italic / bold / bolditalic

If you look at the OpenSans' css, it's

@font-face {
    font-family: 'open-sans-light';
    ...
}

@font-face {
    font-family: 'open-sans';
    ...
}

@font-face {
    font-family: 'open-sans-semibold';
    ...
}

... bold and extrabold - all different font families in order to access all weights and being able to use CKE's [B] and [I] buttons.

I just made AbhayaLibre

This time using the fonts from Google (not fontsquirrel) but with the same custom css families technique as Roboto and OpenSans.
Give it a go. Hope it works - haven't tested it myself ;o)

Whoa, some 1200 lines of code!
But yeah, that's basically how it should be done.

Until then...

Here is GoogleFonts CKEditor 1.0

Unpack the ZIP into your /addons directory and install it via
Admin Toolbox → Plugins → Manage → Available → Install

Before installation, first uninstall the ckeditor-gwf-plugin via Configuration -> CKEditor.

/edit: I find this plugin O.K. for dirty drive-by-usage or quick testing of single Google Fonts.
Technically, its stylesheet link insertion in the edited section is not after my fancy.

The reason why i first now answer is that (on my computer  ) the roboto 2014 - plugin and Your opensans -plugin do not cooperate(no italic or bold opensans) - the same problem why i gave You here my zip with 4 fonts(net.square7.ch/Gfonts2018-4.7z).

I will first check this with the abhaya libre  and with typesetter 5.1  .

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The installation of Your GoogleFontsCkeditor gives an error :::  Oops, an error occurred while generating this page. Error Details
