My new website using Typesetter is online: I progressively buid it and Typesetter is pleasant to use !

The Home page has 2 columns : how is it possible to get it with only 1 column as usual ?

It does not seem possible by the classic View/edit method (unless I missed the point...)

You Use the bootstrap 3 template.  You can at very site go into ckeditor (in the site : right mousekey -> edit) and then into the source of the site and delete the content (or mark it and delete).

Bootstrap has an inbuilt grid for structuring content  with row and columns, which You can - but must not - use.

I went to it , and it is the 5.2rc :I will install it, but my main problem is at the end of this msg.

I do not understand clearly what you suggest... but I can live a while with this problem, my main problem is herebelow...

Yes - You use php 7.4 and please make a new installation from scratch.

You can do many things with the site. The double structure of the content has nothing to do with the template but only with the content, which You can change or delete with ckeditor.

In the graphic pagemanger You can click at the site and give it another template ( and another name etc.)

If You have a newer browser like ie11, edge, chrome, opera or Firefox  then the site should look rather equal. In narrow smartphone-mode some things may disappear vertical.

 

 

OK mabu: i have completed a fresh install locally, using WAMP, and will update my website this afternoon witha fresh install.

But before, can you help to solve my most important problem :

P.S. What You see in the picture- with exception of the darkgray and black area - is the normal as also in Firefox  and edge.

www.audio-vintage-europe.com : If You shift the browser into narrow mode (600px) You should see the smartphone - content (seems ok)

 

You can change the content after login by clicking at the specific site -> editor (ckeditor opens) - and then You can click at the text and change it - really comfortable - just play with it. (and save and publish afterwards)

Well, maybe I am getting old (but I manage 3 big Wordpress sites); I have no problem to make any change in the Typesetter pages; here is an example of what I see from my own PC:

And any other user does not see the changes : I have asked a friend of mine to check on his PC and smartphone, he does not see the changes.

Consequently if the users coming from the web do not see the changes, my website is useless.

From the Admin --> Settings --> Configuration --> General settings, I have just entered "AUDIO VINTAGE EUROPE" in the field "Title". I have not changed anything else, look at the screen capture here:

I am OK to erase the current website and reinstall the version 5.2rc, then rebuild the pages from scratch, but I would like to understand this current issue before...

 

At the moment i can only advice You to clean the browser caches ..?

In same cases the cleaning of the Resource cache under 'Tools' is helpful.

I did clean the cache, it does not help, and the other persons on different devices have the same problem; so it is not a cache problem.

I use Firefox 82.0.2 (32bits), and the problem is still present with Google Chrome.

So, I erase the website, perform a new fresh  install with the latest 5.2rc release and come back to you.

Can you just tell me how to switch from a theme to another : the themes are dowloaded but how to switch ??

Well, surprising ...

I have performed a fresh install of Typesetter 5.2rc, and the problem is the same.

Just use your smartphone, and you will see that it displays the original page than if I had changed nothing !!

Any suggestions ???

Well - in my browsers it get different : Home Home Me Heading Page More , and the smartphone mode functions.  So it seems to be a problem of misconfiguration ( or of fake inkompatibilities  which nobody else has - bootstrap is very comaptible).

You are in HOME - please press PUBLISH to overtake the changes

Once again I already did it, but there is no way to manage any theme, because after having installed the additional themes, they still do not appear !

it looks like the additional  theme have not been installed...

I cannot believe that all these problems are common with Typesetter, so there should probably be an issue in the setup ? I hope to nderstand what is going wrong because Typesetter matches with my needs for the small site I have to build, but for the time being it is a little nightmare...

I have found the problem: it was due to the Cache of TypeSetter ! (not due to the cache of the internet browser)

To solve the problem you have to go to: Admin --> Tools and remove all the pages that you see in the cache of Typesetter.

This is because typesetter keeps the History of the changes, and this cause problems... Everything becomes OK, even on Smartphone.

So I will erase my site and perform a new fresh install from scratch to work on something clean (I do that in approx.one hour from now)

All very strange : In the cache are the compressed css , js, less and scss - files --- no templates. You clean the cache at --> Resource Cache : Empty Cache - Button

Themes : If You see the themes You must click at every single theme (evtl. choose a color of a multi-theme  like Bootswatch Scss 3.3) - klick at a colorlink (under Preview) and a menu opens where You are asked if You want to use the theme in a new layout.  Klick at the green button and then at the left side NEW Layout : save ( i send You an email)

The Templates installation still does NOT work: after having installed a new theme, I get some additional files in the cache, but NO new cache in the Appearance -> Manage theme menu.

I can work with the default theme, but my next question on the forum will be related to this point.

Maybe I suspect a writting authorization problem because I got a notification saying that "the directory "/mysite/data" is no longer writtable". So I have changed the authorisation to make it writtable as well as its subfolders. This did not fixed the addtionnal templates installation problem.

Can you go to your data directory through FTP and check if it (and its subfolders) are writable ?

This looks like a rights - problem : Can You use filezilla portable for Your installation . In the ftp-server make a directory of any name and right mouseklick and set the right and the rights for files and subfolders to 755.

The other hinderance may be  a security shield of a provider !

No new cache is correct : Typesetter doesnt cache the templates that way. The installed templates are under  Appearance -> manage (Appearance -> layouts) and at the right side of the pagemanager

Typesetter has under : Tools ->  Uninstall prep the point 'restore' which just resets the rights.

and under Tools - > Site status    a control of correct rights
