Really glad we got it working.

I'd love to know what the exact problem within the .htaccess file was, would you mind trying a couple variations out and letting me know what works and what doesn't? I went ahead and posted three test cases below:

Test Case 1

# BEGIN gpEasy
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
<IfModule mod_env.c>
SetEnv gp_rewrite On
</IfModule>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase "/gp3/"
RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule /?(.*) "/gp3/index.php/$1" [L]

</IfModule>
# END gpEasy

Test Case 2

# BEGIN gpEasy
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
<IfModule mod_env.c>
SetEnv gp_rewrite On
</IfModule>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase "/gp3/"
RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
<IfModule mod_cache.c>
RewriteRule /?(.*) "/gp3/index.php/$1" [L]
</IfModule>
<IfModule !mod_cache.c>
RewriteRule . "/gp3/index.php" [L]
</IfModule>
</IfModule>
# END gpEasy

Test Case 3

# BEGIN gpEasy
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
<IfModule mod_env.c>
SetEnv gp_rewrite On
</IfModule>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase "/gp3/"
RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]

<IfModule mod_cache.c>
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule /?(.*) "/gp3/index.php/$1" [L]
</IfModule>
<IfModule !mod_cache.c>
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . "/gp3/index.php" [L]
</IfModule>
</IfModule>
# END gpEasy

I will try the 3 options in my localhost (Mac OS X Lion with MAMP) at the afternoon and I will inform you soon.

I have also installed it in my hosting place in the internet without delete the contents of .htaccess

and everything working properly!

8 years ago#3802

All of these cases are working properly!

But when Iam made a new local installation of gpeasy 3.b1 the .htaccess file appearing like below:

AddType application/x-javascript .js
AddType text/css .css
AddType text/xml .xml

# BEGIN gpEasy
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
<IfModule mod_env.c>
SetEnv gp_rewrite cSUJsr4
</IfModule>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase "/gpeasy2/"
RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
<IfModule mod_cache.c>
RewriteRule /?(.*) "/gpeasy2/index.php/$1" [L]
</IfModule>
RewriteRule /?(.*) "/gpeasy2/index.php" [L]
</IfModule>
# END gpEasy

I think that the first 3 lines should be gone...
Also there is an empty first line above those 3 lines.

Take a look...

P.S. Also I want to know how canI add a new section in a layout?

Can I do it from the environment or I must edit a template and how?

Hmm, those shouldn't affect the performance of the mod_rewrite instructions.

I am noticing, in the .htaccess code you posted, the RewriteBase is "/gpeasy2/" instead of "/gp3/". Is this .htaccess file from an installation on your server at http://localhost/gpeasy2/ ? If so, is that where you ran the other tests?

P.S. Also I want to know how can I add a new section in a layout?

There is a fair amount of editing you can do to layouts directly from gpEasy. Select "Edit This Layout" in the Admin Toolbar under the "Appearance" heading. From there, you'll see a number of highlighted areas that you can edit (insert different content, move, remove).

I have test your 3 cases in (localhost/gp3) but from a fresh installation (localhost/gpeasy2) i have paste to you the contents of .htaccess after the installation where the problem still be there!!!

P.S. Iam talking if I can add a new section in the layout. For example in the default theme the footer have 2 extra contents. I want to add a new section as a 3rd column near the "Extra: Footer". Can I ?

Hmm, this looks like the first bug of 3.0b1. The area you have labeled with "New Section Here" should be highlighted the way the others are. There's a workaround to this bug: Install the "Example Addon" that is prepackaged with gpEasy. After the Example Addon is installed, the area you're working with will be editable.

I think that the first 3 lines should be gone...
Also there is an empty first line above those 3 lines.
Empty lines don't have any effect and the first 3 lines shouldn't. Just to be sure though, Would you mind testing the gpeasy2 installation without those 3 lines in the .htaccess?

Ok the new section of this theme it is a bug, but you dont answer me... Can I make from the environment a new section??? Not with code from the template.

Sorry, thought that was clear.

The section is there and you can add content to it, it just needs to be tweaked a little (which you can do without editing the template.php file). To use that section, use the workaround I described in my previous post: install the "Example Addon"  and you'll see the example gadget in the third footer section. Then, go to "Edit this Layout" and you'll be able to customize that section.
