Topic: Error on gpEasy demo

When I start the online demo of gpEasy (gpeasy.com/Demo) and switch the language to "Deutsch" (German), everything seems to work, but every page throws the following error:

Topic: Gallery title

Just create a new text section above the gallery and put the title there.

When creating a gallery page you can instead create a text page, which has the page title inserted by default, and add a gallery section below.

Topic: Section manager usability and bugs

While editing pages, I've stumbled across some suboptimal behaviour of the page manager.

1. Adding a section. It would be nice if new sections could be added between existing ones, instead of only at the end. It might seem easy to move it, but if there are many (like 30) sections, you need to scroll from bottom to top while moving the section, which does not work smoothly right now. Also, it's not clear that the new section was added at the end, so the user needs to search it first, if he's not aware of this. This can be even more confusing if the end is outside the screen. So I think we need a visual aid when adding a section, like scrolling to the location, and ideally it should be possible to add a section at any location, not just the end. All in all I think the feeling of the page manager should be a model for the section manager, I think the page manager works very smoothly and intuitively.

2. Copying a section does not seem to work all the time? I have not been able to reproduce this consistently.

3. Inconsistent behaviour. The section manager will potentially be a window that stays open rather than clicking "save and close". You'll naturally move it to the side while editing the sections in order to see the page content. When it then comes to editing the content, you can easily forget that you should save and close the section manager first. Unfortunately, this leads to the loss of section changes, but only after saving the edited section. In other words, when in the section manager, you can directly edit a section, and during the edit the changed section order is preserved, but after saving the section the page is reloaded and the old section order is restored.

I have the strong feeling that this feature was released too early, I think some time some time should be allowed for testing before adding big features like this one to a new release.

Topic: Remove context menu in page view?

@Josh: That would certainly make it possible for me to make sure my users don't run into that trouble. But as I see an intuitive UI as a main goal for any CMS aiming to be easily usable, adding options to change UI behaviour seems wrong.

Those users won't even try to use a right click for editing, and will be confused if the right click brings up an unexpected menu without the needed functions.

I think this is a design decision between an intuitive UI for beginners and the convenience for advanced users. When in doubt, I would always choose default behaviour fitting beginners.

Hm, that works well for copying text. But there is one other use case I noticed, and that is right clicking an image to copy or save the image or its url. I'm not so sure how common that is compared to copying text, but it's the only other right click action that would be relevant inside a section.

Topic: Remove context menu in page view?

The right click context menu for users logged in and viewing a page has been a problem forever. One very natural thing to do on a webpage, especially as the admin, is to right click and copy text. In gpeasy, until now this lead to duplicate sections instead. This has improved with the new section manager, but now the context menu has lost most of it's use as well.

Right clicking to edit something is not a natural action on a webpage. I have not seen any user doing it like that, it's not an intuitively visible option. The intuitive thing to to is to use the hover button in the top right.

On the other hand, the context menu still makes it impossible for most users to copy text from a page while being logged in, without using the ctrl-c shortcut, which many new users struggle to remember.

I don't see much use in the right click menu and think it can safely be removed to restore the normal browser context menu.

Topic: FreeMailForm - how to use?

You don't need any php.

You just add a new section of the type "free mail form", you can create a form through ckeditor in this section type.

Yes, that will work fine.

Bootstrap 3 uses LESS language for stylesheets. These are autmatically compiled into css when needed, e.g. if you change the layout.

You must change the style in the theme forlder by using LESS instead of changing the compiled css files.

Topic: Spam

I'm using MyGuestbook on several pages, and most have big problems with spam, even with activated recaptcha. Since recaptcha works fine on the contact form and other plugins, I suspect there must be something wrong with the plugin.

In any case, the plugin is not usable in this state, especially since it has no way of deleting many entrys at once.
