I have test your 3 cases in (localhost/gp3) but from a fresh installation (localhost/gpeasy2) i have paste to you the contents of .htaccess after the installation where the problem still be there!!!

P.S. Iam talking if I can add a new section in the layout. For example in the default theme the footer have 2 extra contents. I want to add a new section as a 3rd column near the "Extra: Footer". Can I ?

All of these cases are working properly!

But when Iam made a new local installation of gpeasy 3.b1 the .htaccess file appearing like below:

AddType application/x-javascript .js
AddType text/css .css
AddType text/xml .xml

# BEGIN gpEasy
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
<IfModule mod_env.c>
SetEnv gp_rewrite cSUJsr4
</IfModule>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase "/gpeasy2/"
RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
<IfModule mod_cache.c>
RewriteRule /?(.*) "/gpeasy2/index.php/$1" [L]
</IfModule>
RewriteRule /?(.*) "/gpeasy2/index.php" [L]
</IfModule>
# END gpEasy

I think that the first 3 lines should be gone...
Also there is an empty first line above those 3 lines.

Take a look...

P.S. Also I want to know how canI add a new section in a layout?

Can I do it from the environment or I must edit a template and how?

I have delete MAMP folder with all the files from the Application folder (Mac OS X Lion).

I have made a fresh installation of  MAMP with latest download.

I have downloaded again gpeasy 3 Beta1 from ypur site and installed it in the htdocs folder alone.

I have empty the cache files and cookies from chrome browser.

The problem still be the same...

P.S. The admin page url now is:

http://localhost/gp3/index.php/Admin_Main
